Our second-generation building expertise, design-build capabilities, and commitment to master-level craftsmanship make us a trusted choice for premium renovations, custom additions, and outdoor living projects across the region.
Every project starts with full-service architectural design, so you can walk the design before construction begins.

From the urban condos of Portland’s Pearl District to the expansive estates of Dunthorpe and Stafford, we deliver custom kitchen and bathroom renovations. Each is tailored to that home’s unique character. Our designs feature premium materials, expert installation, and the attention to detail that defines the Masters Construction difference.

We design and build custom additions for homes across the Portland Metro, managing every detail from initial concept and engineering to permitting and final finishes. Our integrated design-build approach ensures cohesive results, controlled budgets, and efficient timelines.
Hardscapes & Outdoor Living Throughout Portland Metro
The Pacific Northwest lifestyle calls for exceptional outdoor spaces. We design and construct custom patios, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and fencing. We also handle hardscape installations for homeowners across the Portland Metro Area, using premium materials built for the region’s climate.
Where we build across the Portland metro
Masters Construction is a design-build general contractor working on both sides of the Columbia. We build from the historic streets of inner Portland to acreage in Clackamas County, and new construction in Clark County, Washington.
This page is the hub: use the county sections below to reach the city or neighbourhood page for your address. There you will find the local permitting office, the neighbourhoods we build in, and what the housing stock means for a remodel. You will also find the guides most relevant to that area.
We are licensed in both states, Oregon CCB #248237 and licensed, bonded and insured in Washington. We handle design, engineering, permitting and construction under one contract wherever we work. If your city is not listed, call us anyway.
We build throughout the metro and will tell you honestly whether your address is inside a sensible travel radius for the project you have in mind.
Multnomah County: Portland and nearby
In Multnomah County we build in Portland, Portland Heights, the Pearl District and Dunthorpe.
Permits inside city limits are issued by Portland Permitting & Development, formerly BDS. Interior remodels there commonly take three to six weeks in review and additions ten to sixteen weeks. Historic and conservation overlays, hillside and landslide-hazard review, and tree regulations all affect what can be built and how long approval takes.
Unincorporated pockets such as Dunthorpe are reviewed by Multnomah County instead, with its own land-use process and, in the Riverdale area, local standards. Condominium and loft remodels carry a second approval from the building’s association covering access, noise, plumbing shutdowns and acoustic requirements.
Much of the county’s housing predates 1940, so knob-and-tube wiring, galvanized plumbing, unreinforced foundations and abatement are normal line items rather than surprises.
Clackamas County: Lake Oswego, West Linn and south
In Clackamas County we build in Lake Oswego, West Linn, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, Gladstone and Oregon City, Wilsonville, Stafford and Damascus and Boring.
Incorporated cities run their own building divisions. Lake Oswego, West Linn, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, Oregon City and Wilsonville each review their own permits. That is typically two to four weeks for interior remodels and six to twelve weeks for additions.
Unincorporated areas including Stafford, Boring and parts of Damascus are reviewed by Clackamas County. There, land-use review, accessory-structure limits and septic capacity often matter more than the building permit itself. Acreage properties on well and septic need a health-department review whenever bedrooms or bathrooms are added. That step, not plan review, usually sets the schedule.
Washington County: Beaverton, Tigard and the west side
On the west side we build in Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Aloha, Bethany, Cedar Hills, Cedar Mill, Garden Home, Raleigh Hills and West Slope.
Incorporated cities such as Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, Hillsboro and Sherwood review their own permits through their building departments. The large unincorporated communities, including Cedar Hills, Cedar Mill, Garden Home, Raleigh Hills, West Slope, Aloha and much of Bethany, are reviewed by Washington County Building Services. Confirming the jurisdiction is the first step on any west-side project.
Interior remodels generally clear review in two to four weeks and additions in six to twelve. Planned communities frequently add a homeowners association design review, which we submit alongside the public application rather than after it.
Clark County, Washington: Vancouver and north
In Southwest Washington we build in Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Salmon Creek, Felida and Ridgefield.
Addresses inside city limits are permitted by the City of Vancouver, Camas, Washougal or Ridgefield. Salmon Creek, Felida and much of the surrounding area are unincorporated and reviewed by Clark County Community Development, even though the mailing address reads Vancouver.
Interior remodels typically clear review in two to four weeks and additions in six to twelve. Shoreline, wetland and floodplain boundaries near the Columbia, Lake River, Vancouver Lake and Salmon Creek are verified during design. Well or septic properties need a health-department review when bedrooms or bathrooms are added.
Masters Construction is licensed, bonded and insured in Washington and holds Oregon CCB #248237.
Planning guides for Portland metro homeowners
Whatever county you are in, the planning questions are the same, and our guides answer them with metro-specific numbers rather than national averages. Start with the kitchen remodel cost guide or the bathroom remodel cost guide for room-level budgets.
The whole-home renovation guide covers full-house projects and older Portland homes. For added space, read the primary suite addition guide, the second-story and complex additions guide and the ADU cost guide for detached units, basement units and garage conversions.
Covered outdoor rooms and patio structures are covered in the indoor-outdoor living guide. Broader budget context sits in our Portland & Vancouver remodeling cost guide and on our pricing page. Our design-build process page explains how each phase runs, from the first site walk through the final walkthrough.
